4th of July Sports

Sports Photo Tips: Now that I have exactly 1 sporting event under my belt how about some tips from a complete novice.- You can shoot through the mesh protecting the batter's box, but you'll need to zoom in. It helps if the mesh is closer to you than your subject. Basically, anything to get a low depth of field (DOF) helps.
- To stop the action, duh, you need a fast shutter speed. Not going to happen at a night game. Set your ISO high (I used 400), and your apature wide open (lowest number possible). Actually getting the ball in frame is pure luck.

The Pitch: Images taken at our 1st annual 4th of July family baseball outing. Highly recommended. "Go, Richey's Market"!

Foul Ball: One of these landed smack in a cup full of soda, exploding it's contents onto everyone nearby. A magic moment for all.

Disputed Call: A lucky shot concerning a hit batter - ump said he didn't try to avoid the pitch. This is my fave image.

Abby Rode: Returning from the local "All-American Everyone-Can-Join Fabulous Fantastic 4th of July Parade". Is this a GREAT town or what!

I agree, the "bad call" picture is great. And I grew up in Corvallis, so I love seeing it in pictures!
