Photos: Banana Slugs Are Out

posted by Andy

I took an early morning walk through Finley the other day. The banana slugs seemed to be everywhere. Here's a few photos of these magnificent creatures. (ugh!) The blue version has been heavily modified, it's the same slug as the other image. Also, the pond near the woodpecker trail loop is infested with frisky newts. Luckly I was photographing in RAW, otherwise that last image would have ended up in the trash bin - RAW (like an undeveloped digital negative) allows you to push the colors in an image farther than you can with JPEG or TIFF.

I remember my first run-in with these newts/salamanders (I don't actually know the difference), but they are HUGE compared to my experience back East.

I finally got a bit of time last Saturday to get some shots. I really need to make more time for my photography.

You are an amazing photographer. And an artist within Photoshop. ( I love the program!)You have such an eye for the pictures that I am jealous of. Have you considered trying to photograph horses? They are quite majestic and magnificent animals.

Thank you, anonymous. I would love to photograph horses, but I also grew up taking care of some so I've still got issues with their biting and kicking sides. Speaking of farm animals ... the baby lambs should be here by now, maybe I'll go hunt some down and shoot 'em -- photographically! Cheers.
