Mount St. Helens

Panorama of Mount St. Helens, made with the very nice and very free Autostitch program.

Some insects found on our camping trip: (1) Jumping Bristletail on a giant fallen tree, North Fork campground. (2) Golden Buprestid (whatever that means, I had to look it up) on the Cispus riverbank. (3) Some type of water larva in a shallow riverside pool.

Camping out at North Fork.

Obligitory shots of dead trees.

Mount St. Helens herself, not doing much but looking spectacular. As usual, all of these photos have been edited (none of that "straight from the camera" crap from me). Photoshop and Virtual Photographer are my friends.

Oregon Zoo, Portland

Images from our recent trip to the zoo.

Zebra: Although it was a bright sunny day (bad for photographing), for this I ran it through the (free) Virtual Photographer plug-in Multiple times, each pass at a different brightness/contrast setting. Then masked them off to get the tones I wanted for each area.

Hippopotamasses: the title says it all. Similar editing as the zebra.

Baboon: the lighting was tricky and shooting through glass brings it's own troubles, but this is still my favorite shot of the day.
