HOW TO: Change Your Desktop Wallpaper

Using your web browser is the fastest and easiest way.
Or you can save the image and then change your desktop manually.
These are general guides, your specific system may differ.

WINDOWS

Browser Method

  1. Right-click on the image you want
  2. Choose "Set as background" or similar command from the pop-up menu

Saved File Method
If you can't do the method above try this

  1. Click and drag the image in your browser to the desktop
  2. Move the file to somewhere you won't delete it
  3. Right-click on the image and ...
  4. Choose "Set as background" or similar command

MACINTOSH

Browser Method

  1. Hold down the [CONTROL] key and click on the image
  2. Choose "Set as background" or similar command from the pop-up menu

Saved File Method - System 9
If you can't do the method above try this

  1. Click and drag the image in your browser to the desktop
  2. Move the file to somewhere you won't delete it
  3. Click the Apple Menu (top left)
  4. Rollover "Control Panels" in the menu
  5. Choose "Appearance"
  6. Select the "Desktop" tab
  7. Click "Remove Picture" button (if you have an image)
    then "Place Picture..." and find the saved file
  8. Finally, click "Set Desktop" button

What size (resolution) is your computer screen?
Most home systems are set to 800x600 pixels.

Here's how to find yours

WINDOWS

  1. Right-click anywhere on your desktop.
  2. Choose "Properties" from the pop-up menu.
  3. Click the "Settings" tab at the top
  4. Look under "Screen Resolution" for the size.

MAC (OS X)

  1. Click the Apple Menu (top left)
  2. Choose "System Prefs" from the menu
  3. Click "Displays" icon
  4. Look under "Resolutions" for the size.

MAC (System 8 / 9)

  1. Click the Apple Menu (top left)
  2. Rollover "Control Panels" in the menu
  3. Choose "Monitors"
  4. Look under "Resolution" for the size.
